APOLOGIES FOR SPAM but it seemed better to make a new post for this than update the old one.

In the light of things discussed in the IC network post on Jan 7, the project plans have been updated, and Chrys's promised extended briefing (offscreened) to the volunteers before the Jan 10 log post goes over the following:

I swear this was shorter in my head than it came out on text )

Last and most importantly, thank you everyone for jumping into these shenanigans!! The response has been way more fantastic than I could've expected (how do I hold all these limes), and for the tl;dr this has become, I apologize. I meant to do this more in an IC format but energy and time constraints are murder.

This isn't a plot, precisely, so much as it is a small kind of irregular (very irregular) thing that Koltira has to deal with on occasion. As a death knight, he is constantly, always and forever in some baseline amount of pain; this pain ratchets up exponentially the longer he goes without a real, no foolin' battle. He essentially needs to cause straight-up agony to other people on a regular basis, otherwise he slips into a blood-seeking hysteria due to the intensity of the pain spasms wracking his body.

The blood frenzy has only happened twice before (in Koltira's year & a half of game time), and it can get ugly, so I feel a need to make a note about it if your character wishes to engage. If not, IGNORE AT WILL!

Hello Exsilium and (belated) Happy 2014! As a followup to some of the stuff discussed in the previous plotting post:

This January, Chrysos will be pulling (or attempting to pull) together a large-scale collaborative effort to build proper base facilities on the ground in Exsilium. This is gonna require supplies! Manpower! Teamwork! Expertise! Character interaction! Caribou! Yaks!

If any of these things sound relevant to your characters' interests or yours, details under the cut:

insert Bob the Builder theme here )

Questions, signups, ideas, comments, throw 'em all here! Lemme know if I left anything essential out, I'll update this main post as things move along.

[ ver. 1.05, UPDATED: 12:18 AM GMT +8, Jan 8 ]

HELLO FRIENDS hope you had a merry winter holidays! A new year is coming, and with it, a new year to plot. Now that the Exsilium story has hit a chapter in which Transports are pretty much running the show for the time being, but it's been a pretty busy time of year for many, it seems like it might be handy to have an OOC get-together to throw around some ideas on Big Stuff For Characters To Do Together, to catch up on plot-and-subplot details (of which I'm not clear on the entirety of myself), for announcements/interestgathers for subplot ideas, and for general asking of questions that other people besides our mods might be able to help answer.

So without further ado:

DISCLAIMER: this post is 200% player-made and the mods bear no responsibility for its contents, including but not limited to brightly animated cat gifs )

As promised, here's a comprehensive list of teams going into the mutiny player plot. This post also includes a timeline of events during the course of the mutiny plot. For a reminder, we want to stress that though these teams will be taking care of much of the incidental action that the plot is structured on, these roadblocks are really only in place to facilitate CR for the community at large! So no worries if you're not on a team, there's still plenty for you to do! People are still plotting and networking together on the first post (located here) so we encourage you to check that out if you don't have plans already!

NOT ACTUALLY THE FOOD STORAGE BOSS, BUT CLOSE

Hello Transports,

So, as per AI's post, there is something amiss in the old medical bay in the east wing that should probably be taken care of! What that thing is is a bit of a mystery, but one that can be solved. Anyone can tag into this post to explore the area, regardless of whether this thing shows up or not in their thread.

Now with more cuts )

CIVIL WARS ARE HOW YOU GET THINGS DONE

At approximately 3:00AM on November 16th, a group of Transports led by Charlie Cutter [personal profile] alittlesweptup and Chloe Frazer [personal profile] totallytrustworthy will sabotage key systems of the moon base and take possession of the Transporter room in order to wrestle away what little control remains in the Initiative’s hands and put it in the collective hands of the transports.

Over the course of the next four days, the mutiny will serve to spark a community wide conflict that affects the base as a whole. Lines will be drawn in the sand. Relationships will be forged and broken - do you side with the mutineers and help them from them outside? Do you support regaining the transport room and helping the Initiative take back control of the base? Do you choose to remain neutral? This is the place where everyone gets to pick sides, to wage small wars with or against people you understood to be your friends, your family. That inter-community conflict is the main focus of the event; taking the transport room only serves to light that spark.

In order to deal with the mutiny itself - but not necessarily to resolve the wider social conflict that occur as a result -, randomly selected teams of characters will work together to get the base’s systems back online and to eventually retake the Transport room from the mutineers.

Hello, all! I'm here today with a little footnote to the shit that's about to go down with the imminent modplot.

The gist of it is that following the party on the 15th, Ed here (who wasn't among the kidnapped) is going to flip tables for various reasons. Since he's a shounen protagonist, flipping tables is going to take the form of haring off after the kidnapped Transports without waiting for the Initiative to make their move. However, he's not dead set on rushing off by himself, and will even be nice enough to announce it on the network just before he leaves - strength in numbers, right?

Anybody who is enough of a twit to go along with this will spend the next couple of days hiking, train-hopping and otherwise into UE territory, following the trail of the kidnapped, and reach the compound on the 17th - but since they're not going to have a plan beyond charging in with all guns blazing, they will be captured and, what with there happening to be a convenient holding facility right there, thrown in themselves, left to ponder their life choices and await rescue along with the others.

Basically, this is a mod-approved chance if you missed kidnapping signups for whatever reason to handwave your (powered or not, doesn't matter) character into the UE compound anyway! They won't be there as long as the originally kidnapped, so they won't have quite as much time to adjust or make their way into the more secure areas, but it's entirely possible that they could manage some poking around and/or bump into the characters already there.

Feel free to use this post for discussion or whatever o/

EDIT: The IC announcement and a log taking place after their capture are up now, for the record!

So as the people on my plurk list I spent most of August frantically working on con stuff, freaking out and packing for moving, driving cross-country, unpacking from moving, freaking out about various moving related things that didn't get properly done, and basically being too tired for life.

I have almost all of it sorted though, so HI I AM BACK. For the influx of newbies, I'm Cocoa, and I play this cranky old mutant here (Nathan Summers AKA Cable, who has spent August scouting and working on his junky motorcycle) and an obnoxiously cheerful pinkhaired technopath (Ally/[personal profile] candystar, who has spent August working on personal projects and idk being sick or something). I missed the CR meme so if you want to plot something hit me up. Also if we have a thread going I haven't replied to in the last day or so I either lost the notif or thought it was old enough to let go but if you still want to continue it let me know!

NOW FOR PLOT. Nate is going to take his spec-ops team-in-training out on a ~wilderness adventure~ in the outlands on the island to make sure he can take them nice places like the UE without things going to hell. There may be spots available for people interested but not actually on the spec ops team depending on how many replies I get (and if someone is willing to give me and Nate a hand in running split groups. Attractions include Loki's abandoned magical castle which is almost certainly full of traps, giant mutated killer animals, mild radiation poisoning, and care of the latest game plot, your comrades being sleeper agents out to do horrible things to you!

To give time for planning and for the brainwashed people to be chosen by the mods, this is going to start on Saturday (the 7th) and run probably five IC days to Thursday the 12th, which gives time for exploration, but also for people to be back in time for the rest of the mod plot. I'll have an IC entry about it and a link to an organization post on Nate's journal later tonight!

Hello, this is Betsy with some news! Since we lost our Inspector and Sergeants to drops the police force has been languishing, but as of now it is back in business at [personal profile] transportpolice

Basically, the natives have set up a police force as of last September and there is a section of it staffed entirely by Transports that works as part of the general police force but is specially oriented towards Transport crimes. There is more information in the link just below!

IF YOU WANT YOUR CHARACTER TO JOIN THE POLICE, all you need to do is go HERE, read over the information in the post and fill out the form.

And if your character isn't interested in becoming a police officer but is in a field closely related (private investigators, vigilantes, attorneys, technical support, anything related to police work!) and would be interested in being an available resource to the police, you can also sign up! We would love to know if we can call on you to get involved in plots.

FOR THE GENERAL POPULATION OF EXSILIUM, this is also to let you know that should you want to RP out a police encounter, inform them of a case going on they should know about, alert them to a crime scene you want visited, or just dial 999, you can go HERE.

Questions and comments welcome, and the entire thing is still pretty fluid so if you have ideas for changes to it please let me know! Roslyn will be making an IC post shortly (ETA: right here!) to remind people of the police force's existence if you would like to sign up IC-ly as well, and the police force is in the database now if you want another way for your character to have found out about it.

Okay yes thank you all done now.

HEY FOLKS so here is the event log for shadow realming. I tried to include everything you'd need to know in the description, but basically:

some last notes! )

hello friends SOPHIA AND ELLE HERE

THIS IS A SIGN-UP POST FOR A PLAYER PLOT aka for anyone who wants TO GET THEIR CHARACTERS INTO SOME SERIOUS PHYSICAL TRAUMA (AND POSSIBLY MENTAL, LATER) DEALT TO THEM BY CATSOVI ([personal profile] scornful) AND/OR THE NIGHTCAP ([personal profile] theparasite) -- who are basically both insane and murderous and are currently working together to fuck as much shit up in Exsilium as they can for the next month (or... few months....)

Some of you may have characters already hit or planning to be hit by the duo!! Some of you may have already signed up for the Nightcap specifically that via its intro post. Some of you may have already developed CR with either Catsovi or the Nightcap (or, uh, Bariyan and Martin, as the case may be) and will probably get targeted as a result of that.

BUT IF NONE OF THOSE THINGS HAVE HAPPENED AND YOU STILL WANT YOUR CHARACTER TO GET ATTACKED, THIS IS THE PLACE TO SIGN UP FOR IT !!!

SOME MORE INFO ON THE CHARACTERS AND WHAT YOU MIGHT BE GETTING INTO )

I had intended to post this earlier this month, but then life happened.  Sorry for the last minute notice!

Warning for season 7 spoilers!

Starting today, Castiel will be completely unreachable for 24 hours.  This might be alarming to some of those who see the most of him (Yoruichi, Dean and Sam Winchester, anyone working at Anders' clinic), after which he will be undergoing some changes.  When he returns, he will be uncharacteristically expressive... sadistic, and occasionally a little messy.

image cut )

Anyway, on the 13th, rumors of Leviathan will begin to spread throughout Exsilium and the United Earth, as some of them have vacated Castiel's vessel before it explodes a la canon and engaged in a little time travel.  UE will realize what's going on pretty early on, however, and will trap some of the Leviathan.  But enough of that, here's where you come in.

During the next few months, players may do whatever they want!  Including:

1. Try to track down and trap/kill/cure Leviathan
2. Get eaten by or possessed by a Leviathan... and then try to eat their friends
3. Try to track down the captured Leviathan and free them omg why
4. Communicate with or otherwise get creeped on by Leviathans (including Levi!Cas)
5. Do an acrobatic effing pirouette and dodge the plot altogether

You are free to do any or all of the above.  Just let me know if you plan on having your character get possessed by a Leviathan.

If you wish to be possessed, please keep in mind that the canon cure basically spells certain death.  HOWEVER, seeing as this is a panfandom game, advanced technology and/or magic or other mojo will work!  I'm easy -- as long as it isn't some simple task to perform, I am totally okay with whatever means you desire to rid your character of it's nasty case of Purgatory worms.  If your character recovers from their ordeal (the memory of which can be as vivid or fuzzy as you want), they will remember insatiable, all consuming hunger... basically like they were a piranha let loose in an aquarium of tropical fish.

Oh, have some additional information on Leviathans and when they're about to eat people, they look like this:

image cut 2 )
As we approach the anticipated end of the player plot sometime September, Castiel and the other Leviathans will either be eradicated, starved out, exorcised or otherwise dealt with.  How Castiel returns to his former glory depends on player action (or inaction). During these next few months, I will be using another account [personal profile] gone_darkside while [personal profile] gained_a_level  will be used for backtagging.

Enjoy!

List of anticipated possessed so far:  Merrill, Shiki, Castiel

So, following up with the OOC plotting post I promised here! Log will go up... probably before I go to bed tonight, aka very early Thursday PDT.

Basically, Nate is going to let each team run the same course while he and a few people who's judgement he trusts (or at least mostly trust, hi Remy) observe. Everyone else gets to wait in the hallway, and the teams going first don't get to spoil it for everyone else - they all go into this blind. However - if you can actually sneak something past Nate, he doesn't consider it cheating. Only if you get caught ;)

The course is fairly basic - it starts in a stretch of woods (which yes, has lots of nice noisy leaf litter), followed by a fairly open, flat stretch of maybe fifty yards long, then a cliff face about twelve feet high. It's rough enough that a moderately skilled climber could probably free-hand it. Up at the top, set back a bit, is a small concrete outpost. Two guards outside, one inside with the equipment. The objective is to get in, copy the data stored there, trash the equipment, and get out again. And that means the whole team - if one person does the whole job and everyone else hides in the woods, well - unless you have a really excellent explanation, Nate will find something for you guys to do to make up for it. Trying to go sideways around things will just result in the terrain looping back around because... he threw this together kind of fast, okay. Sorry guys.

Nothing here is super-time sensitive, but if your team feels as a whole like you're not going to be able to log it out (I know some people are on hiatus, etc) just hash out what would happen OOCly and let me know. If someone doesn't show up OOCly - we'll go with them not showing up ICly either. Shit happens, etc. Nate will reshuffle teams if necessary.

Feel free to ask any questions you have here, and otherwise just use this post for plotting stuff out.

EDIT: Now with (slightly belated) log!

This is just a quick note to say that the shadow beasties are now crawlin' around town, as explained here. They won't be too populous until Thursday, though. Feel free to run into'em!

Some notes, though:

They aren't totally invisible, but their shape in the physical plane is difficult to discern. You may see a burning eye or an ethereal claw here or there, but they are largely intangible. Again, they can neither physically harm your character nor be physically harmed themselves. Their effect is purely magical/psychological.

HELLO FRIENDS lyn here, player of elves and dragons. This particular elf has been in the game for a year this month, woo. In celebration (??) of that fact, I thought I'd go ahead and go forward with a player plot I've been thinking on for about that long.

So, for those of you unfamiliar with the Warcrafts, Koltira is a death knight. An undead, unholy abomination of ice and steel etc. One of the most prudent facts of being a death knight is that you've got to have a runeblade (or two). Koltira's is this big guy called Byfrost, and it's been evolving over the past year. Evolving a lot.

This is causing some problems. )

TL;DR in sum: Byfrost is leaking demon-beasts that are here to torment Koltira and aggravate the general population. If you have no interest in this plot, the demons can be handily ignored / resisted. If you have interest, then the demons can explode tensions between your character/other characters/natives/etc. And he'll need some people to kill them, too.

INDICATE YOUR FEELINGS BELOW!

Around the July 16th (date subject to change in case of any plots) someone's gonna be taking a trip to the VR room, and while they've done it before, it's not been on this scale before. So, the question becomes: who likes cute animals and sleeping well?

This plot'll enact some bonding time with an adorable loving pet, possible CR, and if your character has nightmares--possible help with banishing those bad dreams away. For a little therapy after the past few months, Riku's decided that giving a little bit of cheer and giving a place to release pent up frustration might help.

Going into Stage Two of the Epidemic, Loki will take advantage of the growing disturbance and offer a miracle cure! After all, who better to perform a miracle than a god?

He'll make a rare appearance in the city and lay his hands upon sick individuals, magically cleansing their bodies of the disease...for a while, anyway. Loki is not much of a healing god, he's more the other thing. After a few days the disease will return as if it has never been purged.

What was Loki doing, then? Well, when he lays his hands on someone he'll put a spell on them by planting a small bit of his power in the back of their minds. At a later date, Loki will awaken this spell and these people will suddenly be under his direct control. This is a plot I did one on one in another game and it was pretty fun, so this one is opened up to anyone who would like to take part.

Some things of note:

•Sleeper agents of Loki's will NOT be activated during this plot!
• There is no saying when he'll choose to awaken the spell, but when he does the person/people will be under his control for no longer than a few hours.
• If you change your mind about this when Loki does decide to activate the spell (since it won't be for some time) that is perfectly fine. The IC explanation will be the spell simply didn't take to your character.
• Having a small piece of latent Trickster in the brain can have an effect on your character but only if you want it to. They might be slightly more temperamental, they might have strange nightmares, act out more, whatever you feel is appropriate.

Loki will make a post about this and you can assume he cast his spell on your character if you want (let me know here) or play it out in action then if you'd prefer. Keep in mind that Loki won't be chasing anyone down, he'll offer the cure and lay his hands on anyone who accepts it.

Sign ups, plotting, comments, concerns, etc can all go here.

Hi folks, it's skarme who plays Ed again o/ For those of you taking part in the telepathy miniplot (last OOC reminder, I swear), actual handing out of the comm devices will be handwaved along the lines of the details in that post. The important thing is that by the time you're reading this it's probably after 7 AM, so the devices should be in your characters' hands, and... working flawlessly! The first malfunctions start to happen three or four hours after that, so around late morning (and through the afternoon, evening, night...), but "normal" posts with them are fair game whenever.

Quick rundown of stuff that's pertinent now, because it was kind of a wall of text:
  • The comm devices are audio only.
  • Recordings can either be captured from the environment or created by deliberate thought.
  • Malfunctioning recordings can also pull from conscious thoughts, subconscious thoughts, dreams, daydreams, memories, the neurological equivalent of garbage data or any combination thereof. But audio only, remember!
  • They can broadcast to every device currently active, a single person, or multiple people at once. Malfunctions may also affect when messages are sent and who receives them even if the actual message is fine.
  • They're shaped like ordinary rings, and are only active while worn.
  • It's up to you whether natural telepaths pick up public messages without a device! They won't be able to pick up filtered ones, though.
  • Posts made with telepathy go on the network comm [community profile] exsilium and should be labelled "telepathy" somewhere instead of voice, video, action etc.
  • There'll be an IC post tomorrow asking for the devices back which will call an end to the nonsense, but backdating is A-OK!

Also, hello to all you lovely new people! I stress you are all totally able and encouraged to take part in this whether or not you hit up the IC announcement, as long as you can vaguely justify characters having seen the call for volunteers and found their way there.

As ever, if you have questions or ramblings or any other things to say, feel free to direct them here or there. ♥

29 May 2013 @ 05:41 pm
Hello, all! This mod-approved miniplot, taking place between June 3rd and 6th 5th, comes courtesy of the ~science team that isn't the Initiative's own science team~ currently run by an annoying teenager.

comm devices and telepaths and shortarses, oh my )

In summary and for reference, the slightly less tl;dr timeline:
3rd: call for volunteers to test prototype comm devices
4th: morning: trial begins; afternoon: malfunctioning broadcasts start to happen
5th: morning: recall of remaining devices, apology, call for more volunteers

This post is for questions, plotting and whatever else you want it for, so have at it! :>

ETA, 1st June: In light of the mod plot just announced, I'll note that this is still going ahead! However, we've compressed the timeline slightly so that everything now wraps up on the 5th. Accounting for the incubation period of the virus, the only people displaying symptoms at this point will be those at high risk, but if that applies to your character feel free to treat it as a double whammy or just skip this one. ♥
