Hellooooo, Exsilium! Pretend this is a mod account, I needed a paid for a poll. SO THEN, two things!

One, we're changing up the way we do apps slightly. Previously we've started accepting people and allowing them to post to the intro log as soon as we can, but that has always given rise to questions like "but are you sure everyone's coming in in the same wave" and "but my app wasn't accepted until the 5th day, where the crap has my character been all this time". So we're tweaking things slightly!

Starting on Jan 1st, apps will be processed as usual, but no community acceptance will be given until Jan 8th. The newcomer log will be put up on Jan 8th as well, so people are free to tag in in a rush that's a little bit more true-to-IC.

This is an IC change, as well! Feel free to have characters wonder why the Transporter isn't spitting people out on the 1st, as usual.

And secondly, the poll! Our OOC comm becomes a pretty busy place after the 1st of every month, and it's easy to miss things. So what would you guys say to having all OOC intros placed on a single post meant for new players/characters to introduce themselves on? This post would be pinned to the top of the comm for the week of apps as well as mod plurked, so there'd be no fear of people not seeing your intro. We leave it up to you if you'd like to change it, or keep the system as is!

We're asking for two things to go up to vote, as detailed below, along with information on why only two!

Voting information below the cut! )

Voting will be closed on December 5th, 2013, 11:59PM EST. Please ask questions below in the "Questions" thread so that we may make sure to see and answer those questions in a timely manner. This post is also an open space for discussion and/or brainstorming on different small plots and/or plot elements which could apply under these three broad arcs.

Hello, Exsilium! Just a quick poll, here. We're considering a revision to the rule that disallows doubles of characters in game. Here's the phrasing as it stands now:
Only one incarnation of a fandom character can exist in Exsilium at a given time. For example, if someone were to play a canon AU version of a character (say, Communist Superman from Red Son), then the place for Superman would be taken and could not be applied for by another Superman.

Essentially, this means that there are no doubles of existing fictional characters, although exceptions are made for well-known characters in literature, such as fairy tales, gods in mythology, and most recently, various incarnations of Sherlock Holmes.

The proposed change would be to allow any and all canon AUs (not including characters from different points on the same timeline). That would allow things like Tony Stark of Marvel 616 playable alongside our current MCU Tony Stark, as well as Star Trek TOS Captain Kirk alongside our current 2009 Captain Kirk. Note: there would be no cap on the multiples allowed, here. If a canon has 4 fleshed out and appable versions of a character (to use Tony as an example again: 616, Ultimates, MCU, Noirverse, that one universe where everyone is a zombie, etc…), then we could potentially have all 4 in game.

Please only vote once/with one journal! The poll will be open for a week, until May 31st, and results will apply to this coming app round.

Should we change the cycles so that characters who fail activity check are removed before applications open, so that players can apply for dropped/failed characters?

This is what will become the new cycle:
✗ ACTIVITY CHECK will last 5 Days (down from previous 7 days).
✗ Activity Check would be from the 25/26th of the month to the 30/31 of the month.
✗ Characters who fail Activity Check will be given a 48 hour grace period to reply to the AC Grace Period post, and will be removed from the game on the 2nd of the month.

✗ APPLICATIONS will open instead on the 1st of every month, and last until the 7th of every month, with reservations closed.
✗ RESERVATIONS would be open from the 7th of the month until the very end of the month, while apps are closed.

[ TO FACILITATE THIS TRANSITION, this current application cycle would stay open for 2 weeks—until the 7th of November. ]

YAY OR NAY? Please reply to this poll!

THIS SURE IS ANOTHER POLL GUYS. I swear I'm on hiatus, really. I just have a lot of plans, okay. Plans that, if I don't try to take care of now, I'll goldfish 'em and forget them forever. AND TRUST ME THAT IS PRETTY MUCH THE LAST THING WE WANT.

This poll is regarding: frequency of app cycles. What we are proposing is that we go from having apps open bi-monthly (twice a month, every other week) to, instead, opening only once a month, for the duration of a week (probably the final week in each month, but that is up for change).

The reason for doing so would be to cut down on the IC and OOC introductions that we get now that we're growing larger and larger as a game! That way, we as a playerbase are able to focus more on tagging new things and are able to give all of our new players the attention they deserve; additionally, it makes it easier for us to roll our major plots and involve all of our players and characters! For example, we won't have to worry about apps opening during a major plot, and players coming in without an opportunity to get involved (which has happened several unfortunate times).

Thank you for your responses everyone! Also, definitely leave feedback on this post too if you have any suggestions or ideas for ways to tweak the application cycle so that we can: stagger our IC/OOC intro floods, still accept our awesome growth, and include all our new players in our plots when they span great lengths of time. That's the general goal here! c:

Hey everyone! LOKI ACCOUNT HERE TO BRING YOU A POLL. Lately, us mods have been thinking about changing the amount of characters that a player may play at one time here in Exsilium. With the game's increase in size, increasing the amount of characters per player is becoming a viable option; it was set temporarily at 3, but with the intention of increasing it in the future. So, let me know how you feel here!

Should we increase the playable character limit to 4 characters per player?

Yes, increase it to 4 characters allowed per player.

No, leave it at 3 characters allowed per player.

There is a possibility that adding additional character spots will mean that we may change our Activity Check requirements back to their less-lenient state; this wouldn't be official just yet, but it is something to consider when answering the poll or providing your feedback on this post!

Thank you very much everyone, and happy playin'!

DARKOVIN' IT UP BECAUSE PAID ACCOUNTS MAKE POLLS

HI GUYS. It's Elle, on behalf of Liz and myself on behalf of this crazy time-travel-and-angry-citizens-all-up-in-the-everywhere plot.

As previously mentioned in the last mod post, we are still ICly working under the notion that things are still sixteen flavors of crazy and many are still lost in time. OOCly, of course, it's already a day since the end! But since tagging/organizing can take a lot of time...yeah! Y'know how it goes.

But we'd like to get your opinion on when you'd like to start depositing your information for the end of the plot. As in, we'll have another post up where everyone relates some key/trivial-but-not-really things they did over the course of the event; people they've spoken to (anything of interest?), hurt, killed...places they've left some kind of mark on. That sort of thing. It'll give us as plot mods more ammo to tweak future plots, tailored to way you, as players, impacted the plots preceding!

NOTE: NEW CHARACTERS THIS WEEK: You are more than welcome to work under the impression your character was zapped in the midst of the big city riot and participate in the log! Otherwise, you can wait for the post-plot reveal of things changing in Exsilium. It's your call!

So, without any further ado—

When would you like the wrap-up/info collection for Temporal Turbulence to start?

TL;DR CLARIFICATION: We will need to make a wrap-up post to finalize what things will change in Exsilium due to everyone's antics during the plot! That poll is to determine when we'll do so.

Please only vote ONCE, or you will make me sad. :(

We're also interested to know your thoughts on time/spacing things out for big plots like this that involve lots of people and lots of different tagrates. In order to ensure we can get the most out of future plots, it'll help to know what the general vibe folks want for our pacing! Do you think starting a big plot in advance of the IC date is good, or starting on time and backtagging what passes the date? Or something else? Let us know!

Thanks so much for sticking with us, everyone, and getting involved! We're going to keep working hard to constantly improve and bring you more and more fun things to toy around with!

Hello everyone! Posting using this journal because lolpaidaccount and I have poll questions to ask you guys!

I would like the game to have a regular HMD schedule, and I've been meaning to start putting ideas into place since we've grown and begun having our big plots and all that jazz. Our game-wide HMD would not be mandatory and would be by voluntary participation only! Now, a few questions for everyone:

How often should we have a game-wide HMD?
