Kidnapee Handbook
Oh dear! You’ve been kidnapped by the United Earth. What does that mean?
• You are now kept inside a sleek, industrialized and sterile compound. You have free reign within the innermost rooms, consisting of a cafeteria, individual sleeping chambers, communal bathing chambers, and a courtyard with carefully manicured gardens. There is also a fountain of cupid peeing.
• You are expected to keep on schedule. Lights on at 0530. First meal at 0615. Morning testing begins at 0800. Mid-day meal at 1145. Afternoon testing begins at 1345. Evening meal at 1800. Lights out at 2200. Time in-between, PCs are left to their own devices.
• The cafeteria suffers a surplus of lime flavored jello, extremely good drink machines (coffee, juice, you name it), and a machine that’s supposed to make meals based on key selection, but tends to mess up whatever is ordered. Fresh fruit is also provided. All the fruit is difficult to recognize (it’s been long genetically modified away from standard fruits), but all are delicious.
• You have no access to any above baseline human (or baseline whatever species you are) powers.
• When you first arrived, you were sedated and given a physical. If you proved cooperative, the sedation wasn’t even necessary. Cooperative patients were given a lollypop.
• After that, you’re being largely ignored by the United Earth employees around. There may be a few additional stress tests (running on treadmills, checking eyesight, teeth, getting mouth swabs, checking for reflexes) performed at player discretion. Blood draws and blood tests are also possible.
• All windows they encounter are reinforced and of a material that acts like a hybrid of plastic and glass. All the doors outside of the center of the complex are operated by Employee ID card-swipes. All doors to the inside laboratories are operated by retinal scan.
• Staff and soldiers encountering PCs who have been kidnapped will not even acknowledge them in the area. It’s as if they can’t see the PCs, so little is their regard for them. Acting out, acting up, or attacking brings immediate quelling responses, with care taken not to injure the PCs, along with slight surprise on the side of the UE employee. What are you doing? You’re not acting according to protocol!
• However, that lack of regard can pay off for the kidnapped PCs. They will be able to slip into restricted areas as long as they don’t go messing things up, precisely because they register as basically sub-human to the UE employees.
What can the kidnapped learn about the UE?
• Living firsthand within the UE compound, PCs will see how like clockwork the operation runs, how everyone sticks to their schedule, performs their part, and seems to pause and need to consider what to do when the pattern is broken. UE soldiers seem better adapted to handling change, but...
• UE scientists will grumble about impossible schedules and meatheads not understanding or appreciating how delicate or time consuming their work is.
• PCs have the chance to slip into restricted areas, especially those who have been kidnapped for a longer time. If you’re interested in sneaking into various off-limits areas, you may find the following:
→ Laboratories: Genetic Labs, Biological Modifications Research Labs, Nanotechnological Development Labs.
→ Unmarked Restricted Areas: Growth Accelerators. Morgue. Supply closets.
→ Command Rooms: Central Server Side-Portal. Central Communications.
→ The Warehouse: Garages. Incoming Shipments. Outgoing Shipping Containers.
• For specific information on any single one of these exploratory options, once kidnapping sign-ups are closed (within 4-6 days), we will be putting up a Q&A screened post to outline scenarios and findings for any exploring kidnappees. If your character would sneak away and look around, feel free to start a thread in it at any time after you receive kidnapping confirmation from a mod! You may also continue to sign up to be rolled for having your PC kidnapped (with or without mind control) here, and the full plot informational page can be found here.
The log can now be found here.

Re: QUESTIONS/COMMENTS
Second question, probably really late but that's my own fault as it didn't even dawn on me until now what the eff?? The clothes on their back, their tablets, anything they're wearing, is it all taken off of their person at the time they arrive at the facility? For instance-- Joel's watch, it's his weapon but it also bears a serious significance to his character, will they take it off of him?
I am so sorry for not thinking about this earlier; it's super important, stupid me for not getting to it until now /hangs head in shame

In the end, it's up to you to decide, or ask if you want something in specific to happen with your character, but the general idea is that the United Earth isn't out to torture, but they are there to gather information. Much like having a physical when first taken in!

SECOND QUESTION
with the power null doohicky at the compound, would that revert someone with powers to human, or just make it so they can't access their powers? Basically because of how Max's powers work I'm wondering if she'd be turned back to her "natural" form, or if she's just stuck in whatever form she's in when the power null kicks in?
no subject
I'm going to say this is left up to your discretion, though if her powers are such that they let her take other forms due to how her powers work, then it'd make the most sense to me if she was reset to her natural form.
no subject
if that way of framing it makes sense
no subject
In this case, go for block. It's cutting off their access, so they can't access at all while they're under the null effects, but it's not literally taking anything away -- since as soon as they leave null range, powers are all there again, possibly with a little lingering fuzziness of god why.
no subject
now I don't have to find a PB for her actual face u_u
wait I had one more question I'm so sorry for being difficult
will the UE be paying attention enough to notice if the prisoners aren't eating? or... eating very, very little.
no subject
but no, glad to have cleared that up for you!

will they just note it or actually do something about it? max doesn't trust them not to put drugs in the food so she's gonna be difficult B(

(but ty for answering all my questions you are a delight)

What would be the reaction/treatment someone would get if they agreed to cooperate so long as no blood/DNA was taken?
no subject
So the question is, how savvy is Fef to what people can extra genetic info from?
no subject
She's just wary of clone mutants ok. :(

Re: QUESTIONS/COMMENTS
editing this because I have another unrelated question so saving space: Powernulling will change my character's physical appearance so I'd like to use an alternate journal for this event - if that's allowed, should I just let you know what journal here, or is there some specific place for such a request?
no subject
An alt journal is fine! And letting us know here is enough.

oops now in the right place SORRY JOEL
would anyone have a chance of getting in/getting very far through one?
