MODPOST: ATTN: SHIT MEETING FAN (THIS IS A PLOTTING/SIGN-UP POST)

HAPPY SUNDAY, EXSILIUM. I'M HERE BRINGING YOU VERY IMPORTANT PLOT-RELATED HAPPENINGS THAT YOU WILL WANT TO READ OR AT LEAST BE AWARE OF, SO PLEASE TO BE BRINGING YOUR EYEBALLS HERE:


The cat is going to come out of the bag sometime within the week: The after effects of the Roman mission have finally caught up with this time period, causing civilians and Earth-universe'd recruits alike some major problems! "Temporal turbulence" is the term coined for it, though that's a pretty mild way of putting WOW HEY LOOK WE TRIED TO MAKE THINGS BETTER AND MIGHT WIND UP ERADICATING OURSELVES ANYWAY, WOOPS.

This is something Initiative cannot repair; it's been trying for weeks! But the analysts will successfully pinpoint the point in time where the greatest harm from the Roman excursion was caused, and will be sending those free from symptoms back in time to fix it.

Their calculations have found that a certain man in 1890 England needs protecting on a seemingly uneventful day from a sudden event that never would've happened had something gone differently ages ago! Time shenanigans, man. But this man, among many others in the far future, has a major role to play in time travel development. And without him...Things are getting super wonky.

But there's another problem: The Initiative's been holding off on a solid course of action for so long, even the time equipment is suffering from it. Those sent back are going to be missing the mark by a little or a hella lot, trapped in a time period they weren't supposed to be in! HIJINKS ENSUE? That part will be up to you!

NOW, when the Initiative once again calls a big debriefing gathering, characters will be placed into groups (So far, we are thinking FOUR, but that depends on the response from you!). These groups will be escorted by NPC Initiative officers who will work as living walky-talkies, keeping the players in near-direct contact with the Initiative as they travel and try to keep from making a bigger mess than there already is.

One group WILL finally blip to the right time in order to complete the mission, which will quell the time tremors. All those suffering symptoms will be relieved, and things back here in Exsilium will begin changing in a large way. More deets on that later!

The funnest thing (I think, at least) about this is the duration of these time-traveling shenanigans. Your group's time in each point can be as short as half a day, or as long as three months. And though all travelers will be returned to the same point at the end of the plot, some will have definitely lived out the adventure much longer than others. Time travel, man.

And in the meantime, those still here? You're not off the hook, suffering or not. The Initiative's going to demand your protection, because the civilians are not happy with what's going on. Arm yourself best you can.

Bulletpoint breakdown time!

WHO CAN GO IN TIME:

• Characters NOT suffering time turbulence symptoms
• Characters who might be suffering but not OUTWARDLY; as in, you've concealed it well enough to seem well enough to contribute! (NOTE: your symptom will become pointedly more severe if you go on the mission)

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:

• Respond to one of the group comments in this post to sign your character up to a group
• Respond to OTHERS in your group comment and begin making plans for shenanigans!

THOSE NOT ON THE MISSION:
• Respond to the comment for CIVILIAN REVOLT plotting and go to town determining how your character will fight, with whom, and all that fun stuff you'd wanna play out! This plot will not be a single-log event; you are welcome to break off and do things with other people at your own pace.

OTHER THINGS:
• You can form SUBGROUPS within your groups (like perhaps a couple people split up in order to cover more ground), as you'll all be blipped from time to time together anyway, just like in Roman times.
• You can OPT OUT of the mission by replying to the OPT OUT comment in this post; you will be given a randomized symptom your character, too, will start showing signs of for the time the mission takes to be completed (because the longer the time equipment stays borked, the more people it affects).
• As I said above, this is NOT a single-log event, though there WILL be an event log for the sake of many open cross-thread interactions! You will be permitted do do your own logs within the event (a stakeout in the city, a campout in time, etc.), because it's just more fun that way.
• If you can't decide on a group, let me know and I can go to RNG and randomly slap you in one!


Of course, the after-effects of this mission + revolt will not be revealed until later. Then you will see some pretty interesting changes taking place (but at least you'll no longer be invisible/fainting/etc).

PLEASE NOTE: We will be later taking stock of everything characters (both in the mission and in Exsilium) have done in a reflection post! People they might've spoken to, things they might've destroyed/built...All these things have the potential to trigger FUTURE time-based shenanigans and changes, and WILL determine some of the lasting effects on Exsilium upon their return! (That's why we can't tell you completely what the outcome will be just yet...you haven't shaped it!)

I never know where to ask questions, but it looks like this would be relevant to these shenanigans, SO...

I was hiatused during the time that the side-effects mission was going on, so I never did anything with it (I figure he's holed up in bed with the covers over his head atm). Anyway, I'm sure I'll be back when all of this is going on, and am trying to decide where to put him. It looks like he'd be best off staying home since he does technically have these side effects but I'm totally stumped on how to roleplay his affliction, which was severe deja vu. I'm wondering, if it's not too much trouble, would the mods be willing to assign a different infliction? I don't really care what, and if it's not possible, that's cool too -- I'll see if I can get some advice on it from other players.
