A little light creative writing (voluntary!) assignment
HEY ALL, who remembers that one drunk guy? He didn't make it up to the moon base, but he's here in spirit.
Sort of.
Before everything went ka-boom, drunk guy (here out known as Sponde) gave Stephanie Brown a diamond drive containing various final thoughts, treasured memories, and etc written by Initiative employees killed in the nuke, who would like to have them back once the Transports undo the bombing and save everyone. Sort of like a personal time capsule! Because not only would they not remember the bombing or their final days once they're brought back, if the Transports do their job right, but they don't expect to be the same people when everything is restored. This is a way of carrying on who they used to be, to be given to whoever they end up being.
Also, Sponde was counting on Transports snooping through the files, and furthermore counting on the resulting guilt being a great motivator for the Transports to get around to saving everyone. Chronic alcoholics can be crafty too!
So what are these files? That's up to you! We'd like to make this a little extra curricular creative writing exercise. We're going to let players write the memoirs of Initiative employees, to be opened and read by characters on the moon base. OOCly, these will be randomly distributed throughout whoever signs up to participate. If you would like your character to receive a file, you have to write one! You can write more than one, and you don't have to have your character receive one if you just want to write some. If we end up with more memoirs than we have characters reading them, characters can receive more than one. We might even revoke the "write one to read one" rule, depending on how this goes and how many we get.
Any questions about these, including questions pertaining to information in them, can be asked on this entry right here! If you'd like your character to read one, sign them up in the thread for it on this entry.
To submit one, head over to this entry. All comments over there will be screened, so we can distribute them privately to players. You can submit them at any time, and we'll start assigning them to characters as soon as the IC post about them goes up during the mutiny plot!

So what's in these memoirs?Anything! It could be anything from I fed my goldfish today for the last time. Man, I wonder if Spunky will come back too, when the Transports bring us back? to I never told her what she meant to me, and now I never will. It can be mundane or meaningful, whatever you feel like writing. It's just meant to be a glimpse into the lives of all those faceless NPCs we killed off.
How long should they be?They can be as long as you want! Preferably it would be more than a sentence or two, but it can be anything from a paragraph, to pages, if you really want to write that much. This is is meant to be super freeform and fun to write and read, so whatever you want to do will be perfect for our purposes.
How does my character get one?ICly, they'll be sent the file on the network. Steph will make a post about it during the mutiny, but if your character doesn't know her or wouldn't tag into that, she can also send them out to random people on the network! OOCly, you just write one on the page for it (provided at the bottom of this entry), and sign up your character on this page to receive one.
What does my character do with one of these things once they've read it?Are you tired of "anything you want" yet? Because that's the answer here, too. If your character wants to make a post and share it with the network, that'd be great! They can keep it to themselves and never tell a soul, or read it to their closest CR, or just have it come up in a thread once and never be mentioned again. (Although, if people are going to the trouble of writing these, they'd probably like to see it spread around a little!)
Ideally, they'd be nice enough to hand it back to the IC writer of the file once we eventually get back down to Exsilium, too.
I want to write more than one! That would be amazing! You can write as many of these as you feel like churning out, for as many kinds of people as you want to write about. Your character(s) can read one, or as many as you write, or none at all. If we get enough of these, we'll open it to people who want their character to read one, but don't want to write any.
What if I'm not sure about native-to-Exsilium information, or not familiar enough with the setting? All you really need to know is that this person worked for the Initiative (you can keep the job vague or never even mention it, if you want), knew they were about to die, and put all their hopes into the Transports being able to eventually undo it. We mods will be proof-reading everything we get to make sure there isn't any misinformation about the setting, so don't worry about that part. We'll make a couple changes if necessary, but run everything past you to make sure we haven't, like, completely destroyed the poignance of it with our darn pesky facts.
BUT WAIT, what do I get out of this?Besides your mods’ collective delight? Writing 3 memoirs (they should be at least a paragraph to count for this) will count for one example of activity for AC. You can only use this with one character, and you still have to make up the second half of AC the usual way.
When should I be finished with it?You can turn it in any time from now, but the first (and biggest?!) wave will be ICly released during the upcoming mutiny plot, so they should be finished before then. It's alright if you miss the window, though — they can be dug up and distributed up until characters actually get back to Exsilium.
Any questions about these, including questions pertaining to information in them, can be asked on this entry right here! If you'd like your character to read one, sign them up in the thread for it on this entry.

...Because I'm an awful person.

So this is kind of related, but while Raiden doesn't have a file, he DOES have an arm. He's been recording his patrols while on duty in the holographic data chip he has there. It's not a time capsule thing left by the Initiative, but is hours upon hours of feed of the base, various Initiative members who've worked with Raiden, etc.
Not sure where I'm going with this.... I guess I'm wondering if that would be relevant at all. Hah. (Not in terms of writing the memoirs for AC or anything, since it's just Raiden-cam)

SIGN-UP
Note: You can sign up your character(s) now if you intend to write one, but haven't written it yet. But remember to get back to the writing part! If you still haven't written one by the time the delivery of these goes live, your character(s) won't receive any.
