Welcome to Exsilium's forth game-wide HMD! These will be occurring once every three months as has been voted upon here.

How It Works:

The gamewide HMD is an opportunity for players to come together and bring each other feedback about one another's playing. Constructive criticism is encouraged, however what that means is that it must be constructive. If you are going to offer up criticism, we encourage that you provide suggestions to the player within your critique. We are here to improve! It is also acceptable to let someone know if you enjoy their playing, but note that unhelpful or empty responses ("Oh, I love you so much!!", "Your playing is bad and you should feel bad.") without any real substance are discouraged.

If you like what a player is doing, tell them exactly what it is and why! If you have questions about their playing, this is what this forum is for as well.
It is not mandatory, and you have no obligation to respond if you don't wish to.

Anonymous commenting is enabled for the sake of anonymous crit, and IP logging is on for the sake of continued accountability. Only moderators will see IP addresses and they will only be checked if things get out of hand. Please remember to be thoughtful and respectful in your crit-giving. I should really get on watching Suits, but my developing CR with Harvey is a great joy in my RP life c: (Also, having Kate tags in general again is too, but shhh) He's hilarious, consistently so, and yet at the same time, there's a lot of depth that you give him that I can see shining through. • First: I was just saying earlier today that I feel iffy about the character sometimes. I love the character and he is a lot of fun, but I don't always feel I have his voice and mannerisms or what have you down quite right. I've only been playing him since July which, for a comics character this old, is not terribly long. So any feedback as to what I am doing right or wrong would be greatly appreciated.
  
• Second: Loki's been pretty busy this month but I promise there won't always be a constant barrage of Loki subplots. Hopefully future plots will also be timed better.
  

Also I know I don't tag around much with him, that's on purpose. I don't want to shove a villain at people, especially not a manipulative one. But if you would like to have CR with him let me know! I do love CR.

Dagger is brand spanking new muse wise and to Exsilium. Please please any tips on her would be great!

Zelos is a special snowflake. The main thing to keep in mind is his canon post- it's the Kratos ending in which he dies (i am not marking spoilers for a 9 year old game). He never learned trust or friendship or that he's not a complete waste of a human being. No surprise, this has fucked him up a good amount. And seeing how Exsilium is the first place he's ever been free of the Chosen label? He's dead set on not being exposed (because he doesn't trust people not to use him if they find out!) and thus fake name, trying to fake a new personality, and being pretty much anti-social because seriously everyone including himself are scumbags. So yeah, that's why he's not being a loud, whining flirt like you see him a lot in the game (though still sometimes he'll still slip into that mask out of habit). Though one day I do hope to get him acting more like you typically see him...or at least find some peace about his crazy issues.

Beyond that, please let me know if anything he doesn't make sense or doesn't seem right. I'm used to playing him from the non-death ending so this canon point has me CRAZY NERVOUS.

Additional Comments: The Zagreus plot is over, and I'm terribly sorry it confused people. He's pretty much back to being his usual self, because few things change the Doctor psychologically, no matter what happens to him.

I would seriously, legitimately like to know what I can do to make my RP more interesting, because I can't shake the feeling that I'm dull as dry toast and folks are severely bored by me.

Hey! First of all I'm a big fan of Doctor Who and enjoy that iteration in particular, so I hope this crit is helpful.

I've noticed a trend where your posts seem to be very isolated to the Doctor or very internal. You say a lot about what he's feeling, or about how his situation relates to his perspective, or build it primarily on information from the Who universe, but there's usually very little for other characters to grasp onto.

If a post is very heavy on Who lore, especially, it's difficult for others to care or be engaged when they aren't already actively interested in the subject. The internal aspect makes it hard because while it's great and needs to be there for character, don't forget to give something solid for others to work with. On the transport log this month, for example, it would be hard for people to reply simply because you don't give a clear setting. You say what the Doctor's feeling, but almost nothing about where he is (the courtyard, obviously, but is he running around the carts or sulking in a corner?), what he's physically doing, and what about him would stand out on-sight to another character.

Basically I'd say work on getting more cues in there to reach out to other players. Give them some kind of prompt. The obvious way is to have your character ask a question, but you can also just include something to start a discussion. If there's some kind of topic you know other characters are passionate about, try to make that a focus. As a general rule people aren't going to enjoy tagging into a post unless it'll also serve as an easy outlet for expressing their own character's personality or history. It's important to write in a way that's satisfying to you and draws attention to your character, but you have to show more interest in other people's characters in order to encourage that attention.

FOREVER MOUTHBREATHING ON YOUR CHARACTERS. Your OCs are great and in-depth. This has nothing to do about crit, I'd just love to know more about Soul King, or is it SOUL KING? And more about, I believe it's Anduist Road? Basically, ALL THE STORIES. ALL OF THEM.

More on topic, all your characters have strong voices that stand out from each other. Your plots amaze me and I admire how far you go into them and how you manage to incorporate many people into it. Watching your characters develop is like seeing an epic unfold.

Rika - She's had her fun and she's starting to remember that she has to die when she returns home. So, she's behaving much more differently than when she litters her speech mannerisms with tics such as "mii" and "nipa" and is showing more of her other personality. She is mainly taken from the sound novels (with supplemental material from the manga.) I can't remember when is the last time I watched the anime... I'm not sure how many people are familiar with her canon... but, I get kind of worried she may not be interesting sometimes.

Sophie - No changes really. I've been placing Rika's tags as a priority over her and have been failing with Sophie's activity last month. I may have dropped a lot of tags. I want to try improving her activity this month. She's a friendly and fun character... she really needs to be out there more!

I'm also a very slow tagger and get pretty exhausted after work. I'm willing to backtag into oblivion... Some of my threads get dropped, so I'm wondering if my speed is a turnoff for people and if I should try picking up the pace more? orz
