Announcement / Transporter Shenanigans: Final Phase
Hello, all! Here are two quick announcements and a game-wide mission!
First of all, the results of our poll are in, and we've decided to make no change to the application process for now. If it still warrants rethinking in a few months, we will consider our options again and have another poll at that point. Thanks to everyone for voting!
And secondly, we've chosen Yana, Caitlin (II), Jess, and Sev to add to the app team, and Jansen has joined the ranks of Helper Mods. Thanks again, guys. <3
And now the mandatory mission!
Remember that shiny new AI we got for the purpose of fixing the damage the UE did to the Transporter? Well, it's almost done with its work! It just needs one missing power supply, which the Initiative has calculated was created at just one point in history: 1994, in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. Specifically, on the Maryland Institute College of Art campus. Some lucky student out there put exactly the right mix of ingredients into their art project and unknowingly created an incredibly potent power supply, which was unfortunately dismantled after the school year and lost to history.
Your mission, transports, should you choose to accept it, is art theft. Under the guise of the strangest and most enthusiastic Freshmen Orientation MICA has ever seen, "students" (as always, all transports will be given a cloaking device that will project a hologram, visible only to natives, to make them blend in, and will change everything from species to appropriate clothing) will be raiding every building and grabbing whatever looks like a possibility. Will it be the eyeballtaur? The difficult to use chair? The ladies with excellent aim? Maybe it's the finger turkey or the small but alarmingly excited gentleman. Someone had definitely better grab the 33-foot high Fudo Myo-oh piece, there's no way that one can get out of this unscathed.
There's just one catch with this mission. Remember what happened last time we fired up the machine? Well, they got that problem sorted, but this time the effect will be a lot more immediate, and possibly a lot more disconcerting. As soon as characters arrive on the MICA campus, they'll find themselves in someone else's body. But the mission must go on! Whatever body your character finds themselves in, they'll still be expected to go digging through student art in it.
This body swap will last for the duration of the one-day mission, and then for 5 days afterward, before the Initiative finally sorts through all the art projects everyone has (hopefully) brought them, and finds the right power supply to fix their machine. It is not mandatory, and anyone who would like to opt-out is free to!
If you have someone in mind already that you'd like your character to swap with, go for it! If you'd like to use this post to find someone to swap with, that's also fine! If you have two someones you'd like to swap with, we'll be allowing 3-way round-robin swaps (meaning that x turns into y, y turns into z, and z turns into x). If you have no ideas or will be entering a character newly accepted, we'll also have a sign-up post to be randomly assigned a partner. And if you'd like to avoid participating altogether, that's fine too! The machine managed to swap your character right back into their own body, in that case.
In short:
• This mission (and the log for it) will be kicking off on March 7th, characters will be returned on the same day, and the swap will last until the wee early morning hours of the 13th.
• You're free to use this post for general discussion and looking for swap partners, but to keep it open to new characters, the official sign-up post to be given a randomized partner will be going up on the 5th (or when apps close, whichever happens first).
• Questions and comments are, as ever, welcome!
