plotting & ideas for clinic, medical supply and food supply stuff

Hi Exsilium!
So this here is sort of a tentative plotting/planning/organising/brainstorming thing for supply runs and clinic stuff, just so we can work out ways to get the Transports working together and being kind of cohesive and maybe also just avoid OOC confusion.

Since there have been a few posts and conversations across different posts and everything to do with getting the moon base running smoothly maybe everyone can chuck ideas in here and just... yes.

I did this post with Donny about the clinic and supply runs that fed off Ashraf's post from a bit earlier. (trying to be useful, yeah!)
Mostly it was just concerned with getting the clinic set up and making sure that there are sufficient medical supplies, etc for the clinic and food supplies so that those things are less of a concern and everyone can focus on Saving Exsilium (!!!) and all that kind of stuff.

Some of the ideas that came up were:

- setting up the clinic for max capacity and just being well run etc etc
- making up mini emergency first aid packs for each transport to keep on them at all times, since things have a tendency of Very Suddenly Going To Hell. These could also get handed out to newbies on arrival (idk like next to the cookie tent or something)
- first aid training and simulation (using the VR room potentially)
- possibly seeing if magic users can teach other magic users healing things?
- acquiring back-up generators for the clinic (and training a few people how they work/repair etc in case of emergencies)
- a supply run roster so that people know when runs are happening/what is being grabbed and making sure things never run too low (in theory a system that can keep running even if characters disappear because it's a set rotation and people can just jump in)
- obtaining treatment information for non-human species (what works, what doesn't work, what would work on a human but horribly effect a non-human etc)

And then there were also some ideas about obtaining a lot of stuff that can be stored for a long time, hunting and curing meat, obtaining fresh produce etc. Because... hooray food! And if they are rostering medicine/equipment forages they can do the same for food stuff I guess.

Obviously this is a project for many people, and potentially a kind of awesome way to kick-start CR and everything! I figure other characters and conversations between characters would yield even more awesome ideas. I'm going to put up comments for each of the above points so people can chuck in ideas or whether their character would be interested in particular things. Feel free to chuck in other options as well. This is by no means the way it has to be!!! or anything like that, but it seems like a potential starting point and place to get stuff figured out and help characters feel like they are taking action/there is actually some organisation happening, and so on.

EDIT: plotting can continue here, but to make things easier I have set up moonbaseclinic so it is easier to sign up and see who is working there, access IC contact pages etc etc. There is an ideas/suggestion page over there and stuff.

SETTING UP THE CLINIC

POWER AND GENERATORS

which is part of the set up, now I think about it. But basically getting generators, repair, etc etc.

So far Jaime and Billy have both volunteered for this project, but more people being involved and more people knowing how to repair them if something Suddenly And Unexpectedly went wrong would also be good.

MEDICS & HEALERS

with new characters and drops it'd be ace to work out which characters would be game for involvement in the clinic and who can get called on in emergencies and/or help with training!

and speaking of training, the next subject thing is...

TRAINERS AND TRAINEES

Currently Stephanie is working on a VR simulation to give people training for treating wounds and high pressure situations etc, rather than relying on book learning and then throwing them in the deep end.

Would your character like to train? Would they like to be trained? Would they have ideas for different kinds of training and so on?

EMERGENCY FIRST AID KITS

which will basically be pretty small but have the essentials in them so that if everything goes to hell very suddenly, in theory characters will at least have some basics on hand. (Of course, they could be forgetful or not want to carry a little bag around with them all the time.)

So far Ellie has volunteered to help put bags together, and there will be a table (hopefully) for handing these things out to new arrivals each month.

SUPPLY ROSTER - FOOD AND MEDICAL

Would your character be up for organizing this stuff? (obviously there doesn't need to be an actual roster, it can just be handwaved, but yes) Or perhaps a character who would volunteer for supply runs for medical supplies and/or food?

So far volunteers are: Charlie Cutter, Sokka, Flora, Sikoyja and Rush and... oh god there are probably more but yes jump in

I know Kaneis/Zelos would be able to help with gathering of supplies and resources! He legit has a skill in his canon that lets him talk up girls and in return they give him stuff like money or medical items or food items! And I mean like they'll give him up to 1000 of his currency just for saying hi it's kinda crazy.

So yeah if people wants to utilize that as a means to get money and supplies, I'd be totally game for it. Because making one of your staff flirt for supplies is totes ethical right??

This one who should be on the clinic roster will be still game for working night shifts at the clinic! Or...whatever is the equivalent to the night shift when you're in space. :|b

Xion would probably be up for being trained, after some of the injuries she saw (particularly on friends) during the escape from the UE Compound. She has healing abilities but they only go so far and after seeing how the UE can nullify powers if they want, having more mundane but more reliable options of helping hurt people seems smart to her.

Asbel would be up for going on supply runs (probably more likely for food stuffs because what is telling medical supplies apart unless it's something obvious).

Also I had run the idea of going to an agricultural festival to pick up seeds of plants/produce to grow (there could be some fresh stuff too) by another player on the CR meme, if anyone else is interested, perhaps this could become a group thing?

Adding Xion to the roster of people who'd be willing to do supply runs. Missions with set objectives are definitely something she can handle.

Asbel would probably like to be trained so that he can help people AFTER bad stuff happens. He has a nasty habit of carrying/nudging/dragging injured people around, so if he had a better idea of what [not] to do in emergency situations, when it's [not] safe to move people around, and how to patch them up temporarily until they can be treated by a doctor/healer, it'd probably be to the benefit of everyone involved. And note he has no abilities that'll be useful for this at all.

Elizabeth/Victoria would be so happy to organize rosters and food supplies and stock take it to send on. Used to running households and governments and whatever else her whole life so it's pretty simply for her to keep tabs on things like that.

Though someone might need to explain to her some of the modern terms.

You can add Tempest to the roster of supply running. She knows what should be prioritized and all that, and she's sometimes good at working in groups.

Flora would like to be trained! She can deal with high pressure situations, and yeah, to concur, after losing her powers (for like the nth time, now), it would be pretty helpful to learn at least a few things in case she can't make her way to someone more capable.

Galadriel is for sure on the clinic roster and, chances are, will try to drown herself in work again to cope.

Galadriel would be up for both training and being trained! Obviously, she can't pass on the special subtle sparkly elf magic, but she knows a lot about herbs and about fixing people up with limited resources and virtually no technology. Which is useful when supplies are scarce!

She's also be interested in learning more "modern" medical stuff, if anyone wants to teach her.

lenalee would volunteer both for training and being trained.

she's part of a religious military organisation and presumably knows how to decently treat certain injuries whilst on the field (bleeding, mostly, there's always gratuitous bleeding in d.gray-man), and she's been hospitalised often enough to have an idea on how to treat others.

by that token, she'd want to make sure she's got those ideas right and sound.
