Character: Kanaya Maryam ★ HOMESTUCK ★ speakveryclearly
Character Info: Kanaya comes from a spartan alien civilization with a murderous moral code and strict caste roles, hers basically being "the motherly one". She's also a walking parody of Twilight vampires. She is fanatically loyal to the Initiative as a result of how much her circumstances "improved" after (two-time! #CRAU pride) interdimensional grubnapping.
Upcoming Plans: Now that June's batshittery is finally over (volunteering in a hospital, which had been a traumatic environment in her past, was not good for her psyche) she's transitioning back into training all the time and working at Madoka's bakery. She's going to try to learn to actually bake. Not actually part of her plans but part of mine: Going on mission.
CR/Plotting Desired: People!!! Aliens and vampires (she's both) are always much loved. She's slowly but shallowly surely filling the void in her heart with transports.
Additional Notes: I leave the country on 6/28 and only return on 7/28 so if you want to do stuff in July the answer is actually pretty much no. Sorry!! Get your rainbow drinker shenanigans while you can.

I actually worried how you'd feel since I left it for so long! I just got kind of nervous about Messing Up In Front Of Someone Knowledgeable but I will probably try to actually read that tag finally and use this thread to ask you any questions.

What is Sokka up to these days anyway? Though I'm always up for training type shenanigans, it'd be great if these two got a chance to meet up in a non-military context sometime too.

Riiight now, since I'm a major slacker, he's not doing much. And yeah, doing something non-military could be fun! Sokka's gonna be kinda down because no more sister. ;_;

And yeah, I'm totally happy to answer questions, it's really not a big deal. S'all for fun, so no worries.

Awwwww Sokka... Kanaya knows that pain well (she's lost her fair share of canonmates to the jamjar gods over time), she can definitely relate if he ever brings it up.

So tagged back！ I guess right now my immediate question is how a safety operates, since this diagram is what I'd been primarily referencing and doesn't include one. (Probably not even true to form since Kanaya's is a sawed-off shotgun, though a really short one that I definitely picture her using one-handed.)

On a shotgun the safety is either going to be located in one of two places-a safety 'button' on the trigger guard that stops it from firing or a switch on top of the weapon, like so.

Yaay. Sokka needs more friends.

I see. abandoned transports unite So when the safety button is depressed, what might happen? Does it not move at all? Or a lot of useless clicking? Backfiring terribly? (Though I assume there are options here.)

When the safety is engaged, if it's working properly you'll either be unable to pull the trigger or the trigger will move freely, but not engage the firing pin.
