Greetings, Exsillium!
My name's Bella and I am very extremely new, although some of you have the misfortune to know me already. (Suckers.)
I'm bringing in this kid: her name is Ellie Linton, and she hails from the Tomorrow series. She's from the books, rather than the film adaptation, but the basic story is that in the early/mid nineties Australia got invaded by an unnamed country and a bunch of kids that were camping at the time because badass guerilla fighters. (This is the movie trailer, there are explosions and cool things.)
Ellie's coming in from the fifth book, which is about halfway through the total number of books where the overall theme seems to be how much more can we ruin Ellie's life. Once upon a time she was a happy, cheery teenager, and now she is fulll ooofff desspppaaaiiiirrr. And is kind of a giant jerk. Also, never lend her your car. Or leave her around explosives. She kind of likes to vomit her feelings everywhere while never actually addressing them. Doesn't she sound like fun.
Anyway, yes! I am super excited to be here, and I'm really looking forward to playing with everyone! I am notoriously awful at being on AIM, but if you slap me via PM then I will scamper on there at karmacharging.
And... yes. HI. I am going to actually fill in her permissions post right now, but in the meantime you can read all about her existence as a human trainwreck by heading here.
. . . :D
Oh, and she's in Unit 405 with Kinna Nananea. HELLO, FRIEND. (You poor, poor soul.)

I mean. Hi. I'm Justine and I play Steph Brown AKA Batgirl but mostly OMG SOMEONE PLAYS FROM THE TOMORROW SERIES LET ME LOVE YOU
no subject
LET ME LOVE YOU MORE
no subject
I've even read the Ellie Chronicles despite them being. kind of strange.
no subject
Hmm.
That was like Marsden just went YOU KNOW WHAT I THINK I NEED TO RUIN HER LIFE SOME MORE. Also ps. have some weird stuff going on and generally everything being crap. Plus the Scarlet Pimpernel.
no subject
just in case things weren't bad enough now your parents are dead
also i think you mean scarlet pimple. because it wasn't dumb enough already.
no subject
my parents are DEEEEEEEEEEAD
although she is before that, at the moment. Maybe if I canon update her. It was almost funny though, really; I mean not even A CHAPTER into the sequel and she finds the bodies of her parents. And naturally it's all her fault. I just.
MARSDEN
no subject
at least she has gavin????????????
gavin is not a good consolation prize (sorry gavin)
no subject
But I guess it made sense, because then Ellie could somehow descend a cliff-face without any climbing equipment.
... SHE REALLY IS BATMAN.
no subject
Does that make Gavin Robin? Can Homer be Nightwing? Why am I putting so much though into this????
no subject
Oh my God. BUT WHO IS CATWOMAN... can Fi be Catwoman. I don't know enough about the DC verse, I just know that Barbara Gordon is a bamf. Also is it wrong that I groaned forever at Ellie/Lee. I LIKE ELLIE. I LIKE LEE. I DON'T LIKE THEM AS... THEM. NO. Too much emotional trauma for one relationship.
Also, here. Enjoy the glory of this icon.
no subject
Fi can totally be Catwoman, they are both babes, it works. And knowing that Babs is a bamf is really all you need to know about DC.
lmao no it's not wrong I DIDN'T MIND THEM AS A COUPLE??? but god yeah there was just so much trauma I wanted to push them away from each other until they dealt with their shit.
That is indeed a glorious icon.
no subject
Yeah, seriously. I was so torn between pitying Lee and wanting him to fall off the world and then wanting to hug him... those books give me lots of conflicting emotions. Maybe one day I can bribe other people to play Tomorrow characters and the horrors can truly unfold.
The eternal femmeslasher in me kind of wound up shipping Ellie and Fi ALTHOUGH I REALISE THAT... REALLY WASN'T WHAT MARSDEN WAS GOING FOR. But seriously it was just too funny reading Ellie talk about how amazing Fi was and her attractive legs and ahhh :'D Oh, Ellie. I do enjoy Lee, though. It was kind of cool that the characters are so complicated, although you knew so much stuff had to be warped by Ellie being The Crankiest Narrator.
Not sure why it isn't my default, tbh.
no subject
Conflicting emotions are probably the point of the books tbh ALSO GOD DON'T TEMPT ME. I'm not even sure who I'd play but pretty sure I could be easily enabled into trying someone.
No this is a valid way to interpret things. I think I was too young when I read them the first time 'round to ship ladies together (I guess I didn't know what lesbians were when I was like 12???) but if I read it again I probably would. Ellie stop talking about Fi's legs. Ellie really is the Crankiest Narrator, who let here be in charge of that.
I demand you make it your default right this second.

Man, play Kevin just because Ellie would be SO ANGRY that he was there. OF ALL PEOPLE. KEVIN. KEVIN!!! FREAKING KEVIN, MAN. (Poor, poor Kevin. Total victim of Cranky Narrator syndrome.)
Hahaha yes, same. First time I read them I was all "la la la" and then when you re-read them when you are older you wonder how such traumatic stuff is in a book for teenagers and also Ellie your subtext is showing.
I know Ellie talks about them all deciding she should do it, but I bet she just declared she would write things down and everyone else was traumatised by life to object.
MAYBE. Maybe I will.
no subject
ANYONE BUT KEVIN. Robyn or Corrie would be more traumatic for sheer "AREN'T YOU SUPPOSED TO BE DEAD?!?!?!" but she'd probably still prefer them to Kevin.
Apparently trauma in books for teenagers is the thing to do /stares at hunger games. I can get behind that theory, no one's really gonna argue with Ellie.
no subject
lbr she'd prefer a kick in the teeth to Kevin. But oh my God yeah she'd have all the meltdowns. I don't know if my brain is ready for the insane monologuing and FEELINGS that would happen. So, naturally, I would be all over that.
Who doesn't love traumatising teenagers, really?
no subject
I play the Batgirl that grew up in a house full of criminals I am all for traumatising teenagers.
no subject
It would be mean but also delicious.
Hurrah! I vote that we take them on missions that somehow just wind up being unexpectedly traumatic. In ways that make little to no sense.
no subject
This sounds like a wonderful plan. I am definitely going to mash Steph against Ellie at some point because she's pretty good at dealing with traumatised teens.
no subject
and then she'd invite her friends to watch and beat him up some more
it'd be really healthy and emotionally balanced
I am really excited for this! And future adventures. Steph and Ellie and Katniss should go on a terrible mission together at some point. Especially when Ellie is eventually able to make herself invisible/silent and can do the same for people in her "area of effect" type thing. Yes.
no subject
Team traumatised teenage girls! Steph is probably the Only Sane Man in this scenario, since she's got.. the least PTSD out of the three of them. That is a neat trick of Ellie's though. Steph's suit will eventually be able to camouflage/go invisible but that's a while away.
no subject
Yeah, Ellie is going to take a while to get there, and it will be after a stage of AHHH????? WHAT???? and then maybe I'M A SUPER HERO. Idk. Ellie.
Also wow Ellie is getting some emotions on Steph in this here thread, I hope her clothes aren't dry clean only.
no subject
Being a superhero is a pretty cool gig (not it's not), and probably the best way to rationalize being able to turn invisible
fortuantely they are not! and steph is okay with emotions, tho she does want to give Ellie a hug and like. a proper meal. maybe a cup of tea, too.
