mod announcement: applying & reserving from recently released canons.

Hello everyone! I'm swinging in here to let you know about a new rule that has been added due to peaking interest in reserving & applying for characters from newly released canons.

The additional rule reads as follows (updated to reflect more information):

fourteen | applying for characters from recently released canons
Recently released canons require a minimum wait period of 6 weeks before they may be applied from, unless otherwise noted below. The following stipulations also apply to canon updates, and sequels to existing canons (video games, movies, or otherwise).

movies: Due to budding interest in applying for characters from recently released films, we ask that players wait a minimum of 6 weeks before applying for a character from a recently released canon. Players are permitted to reserve a character from a recently released canon no earlier than 3 weeks before the wait time is up--essentially, if the 6 week wait period would be over by the time that applications open, you are permitted to submit a reservation for that character for the reservation period prior!

television series: We ask that players wait to apply for characters from ongoing, new television series' ("new" being in its first season) until half of the season has aired. Players may reserve characters from recent, new television series' prior to an application cycle if half of the season will have aired by the time that applications open! If you would like to play a character from an ongoing television series that is in a much later season, you may apply for a character from the most recent season only if half of that season has aired by the time you are applying.

webcomics and comics: Webcomics and comics that have been recently released may be applied from after a minimum of 6 weeks has passed since their release date.

video games: Newly released video games will also have a wait period of a minimum of 6 weeks before they may be applied from.

If you have placed a reserve during this round that we have recently accepted that goes against this rule, your reserve will be honored; this rule will be in effect beginning today. Thank you everyone!

hi ho, Kari here! i reserved Calhoun from Wreck-It Ralph but i just wanted to state for the record that i am aware that this film is still pretty brand new and won't even be out in theatres in a lot of places for another month and a half. if she's accepted i'm 100% prepared to make a permissions post for her and i plan on being as vague as possible about movie events with any unspoiled folks who deign to tag her. it is so totally worth it to see this movie unspoiled so i'm absolutely not gonna spoil anybody who doesn't already know what goes down. o7

If a show is in its 5th season or something, is there a rule about waiting before apping from a new episode or season? For example, Dexter Season 7 is airing right now; would I be able to app from s7x03 a couple weeks after it airs or would I need to app the character from s6 to avoid spoilers?

I have no intention to app one, but would appreciate the clarification for future! Thanks!

How about games? Especially the new installments to big popular franchises?

Time for a difficult question.

What about anime series that have an on-going manga? For example, Magi only started to air as an anime this season, but it has been written since 2009. Will it be based on whether they take from the manga or anime version or will the same restrictions apply?
