Hi, Exsilium!

I'm Caitlin (or Caitlin 2.0, as I've been labeling myself to hopefully eliminate confusion c:), and I will not lie, I have been eyeing this game for months but never could figure out who I wanted to app. SO I am really excited to be here. Like, really excited.

I'll be bringing with me (or, I should say, bringing back) a miss Katniss Everdeen, that girl with the bow and arrows who started a rebellion from that trilogy of YA novels-now-being-adapated-into-movies about kids being forced to kill each other on live television in a very pleasant version of the future. YEP. She's coming to you from the fourth chapter of the third book, Mockingjay, where things are pretty bad but other really bad spoilery things haven't happened yet. ... This is me trying to be vague. I don't think it's working out terribly well.

KIDS AND WARS AND FUN. Best assessment of THG ever, I approve

Hi, Lenga! It's so nice to meet you c: I've been meaning to actually... read... Homestuck forever, but from what I know, this sounds terribly interesting. By which I mean Katniss will probably want to shoot Karkat by the end of this, haha ;; And by which I mean, YES, I need this CR in my life, this would be amazing

YEP, Homestuck is a very interesting piece. We commonly sum it up as "KIDS AND FUN" with virtually the same meaning as "KIDS AND WARS AND FUN", just more sarcasm because we don't even have the basic trust you guys did that Katniss would come out alive! BUT HUSSIE IS A HILARIOUS AUTHOR, SO THERE'S THAT.

On what you should basically expect:

• Karkat and Kanaya and their other buddies with candy corn horns are trolls from this planet Alternia. It was a brutal, almost Spartan place with a caste system and a different system of ethics and morals. Killing for vengeance in a roughly Shakespearean or Sophoclean way. (Someone kills your lover: They've got to die. Someone tries to kill you: They've got to die. You're just a jerk and someone gets in your way: They've got to die. Someone is just a jerk killing your friends who get in their way: They've got to die.)
• I said was because that planet was destroyed and (within their canon) they created the human universe. (It was a pretty hardcore video game.)
• Kanaya is also a rainbow drinker which is the troll equivalent of a vampire. This is why she is white and glowing when the other trolls are all boring gray. (Except for the guy with clown makeup. Ignore him. He's nuts.)
• On top of all her canon trauma, this Kanaya is a CRAU with EVEN MORE TRAUMA EXPERIENCES, but obviously since you're canon-blind this isn't an important point.
• Everyone wants to shoot Karkat, don't worry.

See, Katniss? SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS TRAUMA you guys should be friends ;; And so no one will care if an arrow is fired during the night one night, right? Good.

I'm definitely even more interested in Homestuck now, so when I get a chance, I need to catch up! Gosh, so much trauma to go around here.

YES... KANAYA UNDERSTANDS... FRIENDS... even though she is going to be so so wary of Katniss at first it will be worrrrrrth it. I've... gotten her into so much trauma roleplaying that I'm seriously researching trauma disorders at this point and ALL I KNOW ABOUT THEM IS THAT KATNISS HAS ONE... [shaking and crying]

Poor girl here has PTSD written all over her :( (I was actually a psych major in college, so I end up using what I learned in school in RP a lot. And RP is, actually... turning out to be the thing I use that degree the most on right now. Sob.) Sounds like they'll be mutually wary, but eventually they can find their way past that. And it will be beautiful. Glorious and beautiful.

... Honestly, I quit valuing my heart the moment I became a Hunger Games fan. I think I'll fit right in :')

I threw PTSD around for a little while but some people told me I was doing it too flippantly!! I've gotten a couple suggestions of acute stress disorder?? I've been trying to form a more accurate psych picture so if you'd like to throw some opinions in on that some time when you get to know this character better it would be AWESOME...

And man I know the feeling I have read the trilogy and just man you guys have it pretty bad.

Oh, yeah, feel free to bounce any psych questions off of me! I'm always happy to answer those c: I really do love my subject. But, yeah, just to throw a basic distinction out there, the biggest difference between PTSD and acute stress disorder is the timing of it. Acute stress disorder diagnosis occurs within the first month of exposure to a traumatic event, whereas someone cannot be diagnosed with PTSD unless the symptoms have persisted for 30 days or longer, in a nutshell. I can explain this in more detail, though, if you'd like!

This trilogy breaks my heart. I've only managed to read the whole thing twice. ;;
