MOD POST: Greetings & After-effects of the Bombs Away Plot!

Hello everyone, it's Ophelia! First thing I'd like to say is: WELCOME TO ALL OF OUR NEW PLAYERS! I had a chance to go through and talk to quite a few of you on your individual OOC posts but in case I didn't get to say hello to you there, I'd like to say hello to you here and welcome to Exsilium!

It's been quite a hectic week with all of our plot shenanigans and the new applications cycle, but I think it went pretty well, overall. If you've got any feedback for me on the new apps cycle system/how you felt about it, please let me know here!

Due to the severe security breach upon the network, the Initiative is stepping up their encryption—ten fold. They're replacing everyone's netbooks with tablet computing devices THAT FOLD UP (think like an iPad, but more futuristic and needlessly holographic in places because what is up with that shit but w/e it looks cool I guess?) ANYWAY, what this means is:

☆ Characters will be individually pinged on their netbooks to come to the Initiative Hold and have their new devices swapped out for them.
☆ Characters who are using other devices (like their Omnitool or glasses, or a wristband if they're not humanoid) will be asked to show up as well—where their Network settings will be vastly upgraded for them.
☆ The new devices are meant to be easier for characters to use for their voice/video/text input, though they may take some getting used to! (What with the touch screen and everything).
☆ They also fold up like the picture shown above—so they're much smaller and more easily transportable, made with a bendable LCD material (no seriously that stuff exists in real life i swear it's ridiculous).
☆ Notably, settings on the new devices are going to be much easier to navigate. Characters who wish to go by a fake name can now change their name easily using their tablet. This is because the Initiative will know who you are, but the more likely it is that others don't, the better. So it can only work out in their favor, right? Right.
☆ The tablets will have a further range than the original netbooks, so if your character is out in the Outlands or wandering around in the United Earth, their Network range will be substantially longer than it had been before!

OUTSIDE OF THE TABLET SCENARIO:

★ The highest and the currently unused floors of the housing building have been destroyed by bombs, as well as some that are inhabited. If you want your room to have been destroyed during the bombing, it is entirely up to you! The Initiative is working to repair everything that has been damaged.
★ The Initiative Hold still stands, though sides of it have been damaged—most notably the training rooms, but only two out of the ten or so; the United Earth turned their bombings from the Hold before they could destroy what they came in for.
★ The United Earth did make off with some of the teleportation technology—which is what lead them, in part, to vacate the island and declare their raid over. What they don't know is that they've really just gone home with a very early prototype that is almost non-functional, and whose components are the same as their own. This means: they now know what the Initiative is using to bring people in, but they can't use it (correctly), and it isn't anything like the Initiative's newest tech—though the UE doesn't know that much. SO THERE'S THAT, TO SIT ON, BECAUSE IT WILL COME IN HANDY IN FUTURE PLOTS.

ADDITIONALLY, the plot that begins in the middle of October is going to be a retaliation plot. The Initiative isn't just sitting still and taking all of the UE's terrorism, and they're working out a way to get a big strike back out at them. More details about that are to come, prior to the plot's onset!

OKAY EXCELLENT anything I should know -- as in I can toss it all up and together, break it down for shenanigans and whatnot -- for how the UE should be viewed through this?

Basically they're going to come in with four guys—all foreboding and silent, who will just be running a view of the grounds together. They'll be without any Masked to protect them, since they've decided to SHOW OFF LIKE THEY'RE HOT SHIT AND KNOW THAT EVERYBODY'S SUPPOSED TO BE DEAD LOL and also because they have hyped-up physical defenses from years of, well, being injected with slave serum WOO.

They'd be suited up and in fancy dress, and it'll be easier to pick off one of the smaller gentlemen—whose mind will be blank, basically, until time spent away from his UE serum (a drug that they inject their society with to help with their docility and no one was surprised) starts to deteriorate his ability to keep his cover. So he can be interrogated and he'll give up nothing at first, but afterward he'll start to spill information...

AND I'VE GOT A PRETTY GOOD IDEA HERE, SO... THIS COULD BE THE BIG REVEAL... OF SOMETHING important actually that I will private plurk you because we could get that information from this guy's head YEAH
