MARTY IS BACK AMONG THE LIVING AS OF 9/21, YAAAY.
BUT HE IS NOT THE SAME SAD BOY MANY HAVE COME TO KNOW AND SUFFER BECAUSE OF. Because he is not Darkov anymore, because Darkov is dead and dust from previous events.
Martin is physically 100% human now and will no longer be able to conjure (or barf up black gunk or turn into godawful monster things). So no more lances. He is post-all death, pulled from doing his whole existing-in-eternity thing as a rather mighty force! He is now bound by contract to a physical lifespan here thanks to Bariyan, who has blubbered him back into this world by the power of shojo grieftears. He is the one to thank/kick for this.
He is now like 10,000% more useful in combat, and not just because he'll actually be targeting the right things! Like I said, rather mighty force: gold and glowy, freaky-deaky two-in-one-and-sometimes-a-lion entity with the ability to affect persons/things on a spiritual/psychological level. His attacks can render persons temporarily blind, mute, or generally disoriented, and he has the capacity to temporarily illuminate one's conscience – baring the state of one's self wholly and without any illusion, which is kind of horrifying for some I'd wager. This thing'll have a permission posty thing I will make, I promise, and it will not be unleashed without prior notice and consent!
But he is now -2,000,000% useless if he is up against things without fleshy brains/actual consciences/souls/what have you. So he is not the guy to call if you need machines blown up SORRY.
This glowy goodness manifests outside of the body and leaves it inert and can only last as long as the body can withstand his absence. Not very long, especially right away, so there'll be no glowy rampaging about. IF YOU HAVE EVER SEEN VAMPIRE HUNTER D: BLOODLUST, IT IS LIKE THAT ONE BROTHER WHO DOES ALL THE FLOWY GLOWY BULLSHIT AND SHOOTS SOUL LASERS. PRETTY MUCH THAT. EXCEPT NO EXPLOSIONS.
He's now fully aware of the awful shit he done did as a mini-monster, and he is sure as hell sorry for it. And, having a shot to live as an actual person and not a thing, he is equal parts eager to atone as he is to move forward to be better.
I hope this brighter, 800% less self-hating Marty is enjoyable! PLEASE COME AT ME BROS; he will be returning in tow with Bariyan this coming week while all hell's breaking loose.
