canon updates;

In Exsilium, you are allowed to apply for a canon update for your character here on this page. What that means is this: your character can be removed from the game for a minimum of 24 hours and, upon their return, they will be coming back into the game from a different canon point from their source canon than the one that they originally entered the game with. This canon update can be forward or backward in your character's canon, depending upon when you would like to bring your character into the game from this second time.

What happens ICly: the Transport's time-travel and universe-pulling technology is very volatile. In an attempt to utilize the technology and study it, your character will have been suddenly transported back to their canon in the middle of whatever they were doing — in an attempt to retrieve your character after recognizing their mistake, the Initiative pulls them back into the game from that new canon point! Now, about your character's in-game memories:

Your character will remember their time here in Exsilium unless you decide otherwise; if you do, please detail it in your update request.

Please note that while there's no maximum amount of time limited for your character to be gone from game, a canon update does not count as a hiatus (unless specifically noted as such on the hiatus page) and will have no effect on your character's activity status during activity check. Your character will still be required to make activity for a month during which they have been canon updated.

previous game memories update;

This is similar to a canon update, but rather than gaining memories of home, your character gains memories of their time in another game. They will be gone for the same 24 hours as a canon update, with the same IC explanation, and retaining memories of their time previously in Exsilium is, again, optional.

There will be a field in the canon update form for memories from another game, which is very similar to the fields for it on a character application. We don't require writing at great length about previous CR and memories, but please mention anything that has effected your character's development.

Note: Your character may remember anyone from their previous game; however, if the character they are remembering is present in Exsilium, you will need player permission to have your character remember theirs.

character deaths;

If you would like to organize your character's death resulting in a canon update (or not, that is not required), or organize your character's death within a certain plot or with the use of the NPCs, here is where you will apply to do so! The same rules will apply to a character death as apply to the canon updates -- your character will be gone from game for a minimum of 24 hours and unless specified with a hiatus, your character's absence in game will not otherwise exempt them from standard activity check procedures.

canon swaps;

This procedure is very much less common, but may also be applied for here on this page. If you would like to swap your character out for a different canonical version of themselves, you may fill out an application here and we will evaluate your characters' eligibility for such a request. For example, if you are playing a character from Marvel Comics' Earth-616 universe (the main comics continuity), and decide that you would wish to switch this character out for their Marvel Cinematic Universe, or Earth-199999 counterpart, you would do so here with a "canon swap" request.

The same IC process that results in canon updates -- the volatility of the time-traveling technology belonging to the Initiative and experiments done by them to improve it -- will be the cause of this canon swap. Please note that characters who are "canon swapped" do not get to retain their in-game memories and will be coming back into the game with a clean slate and no existing recollection of what has happened previously.

Questions about the way that these processes work or about different aspects of what happens are also welcome on this page and will be responded to as soon as we are able.

We're looking for a sort of mini-application where you let us know why you'd like to change your character around and what effects that is going to have on their own personality, as well as those characters that they know in their canon and in game here.
If you are filling this out to update with previous game memories, this is where you will tell us which game, how long they were there, and list important events and CR that your character has experienced in the other game.

Note: Unfortunately, he wouldn't be able to exchange his weapon for something so different from his existing weapon—if it were possible for him to have just one of them, that would be something that the Initiative could swing; but not all three of them sadly!
